Research

During my doctoral studies, my work focused on examining ethical issues regarding human enhancement. My research in ethics takes a philosophical approach primarily, but I also have some experience working with quantitative and qualitative projects. Whatever the methodological approach, the underlying ethical questions about what it means to be human and whether this is changing with current technological advances drive my ongoing research.

Science Communication

I am involved in various science communication initiatives. I was the scientific coordinator for superhumains.ch, a project that aims to educate, inform, and create dialogues with high school students about bioethical issues regarding emerging technologies.

I co-founded neurhone: connecteur d'idées, a non-profit organization that organizes TEDxMartigny, the Carnotzets Scientifiques, and the FuckUp Nights in Valais, Switzerland.

In 2014, I received the Best science blog award by the Agence Science-Presse in Canada.

In 2018, to celebrate the 50th birthday of 2001: A Space Odyssey, I launched the 502001.CH initiative: a series of events to reflect on the future of our species, with Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film as a starting point.

I am currently helping with TEDxAbbotsford and working on different SciComm projects.

Forgoing

At the end of the 19th century, an essential connection of mountain culture began as certified Swiss mountain guides were hired by the Canadian Pacific Railway. As we come out of a global pandemic, the future of many historical buildings and landmarks lies on shaky grounds. With a transition to a more online world, talks of digital preservation come up frequently, but will these recreations ever imbue the same experience as being there in person?

Seizing Hope

This mini-documentary is a story about hope for children and their families in mitigating and treating pediatric drug resistant epilepsy (DRE). It is a story about how families learn to trust their medical team, educate them, and help them consider neurotechnology options for their child. It is a story about empowerment as loved ones shed light on the ethical factors that led to their decisions. In doing so, they empower other families that face similar challenges to theirs.

UX Design

Every spring, I take on a continuing education program. I enrolled in the Google UX Design Professional Certificate course with Coursera to learn about UX design and integrate it into my projects.

As someone trained in ethics, I am curious to examine what role ethics could play in the process of UX design.
